About Me

Naturopathic Doctor VancouverDearest Patients,

In the last 2 months I have created a new clinic - just 2 blocks away from my current location - to serve you in a way according to my highest intention. I envision a clean place of personal healing and highest inspiration. The clinic has been named Kingsway Naturopathic Clinic, located at 6983 Kingsway Suite 102, Burnaby, BC V5E 1E5. Kingsway indicates its location, but has a subtext that we all have the potential to walk the “King’s Way” - the highest and the most noble path.

The word “Naturopathic” indicates the posture of the doctors who work here. That the true healer is within each individual, and a doctor is an assistant to that that Great Healer within. Clinic comes from Greek, klin, meaning a bed. I interpret this in a poetic sense that Kingsway Naturopathic Clinic be a place not of survival, but of personal thriving peace.

And here are my two guarantees. The first is that our clinic’s top priority is the masterful delivery of healing arts. The second is that there will always be the finest coffee and teas, and of course, purified hot and cold water.  Now you can come in and enjoy your favorite drink!

 About Dr. Albert M. Kim:

Dr. Albert M. Kim, a 2004 Graduate from Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicne, holds a BSc in Biology (Major), Biochemistry and Microbiology (Minor) from University of Victoria (1996).

Prior to graduation, Dr. Kim was elected and served as a memeber of the Senate at the University of Victoria (1995-1996). He was the founder of the consulting firm, Gateway English and Sciences, which provided translation and educational services to consumers and businesses (1996-2004). He traveled to Taiwan and lived (4 months) amongst the Buddhist monks to do personal research on Buddhist philosophies (Tien Yin Temple, Shinzu, Taiwan 1998).

In 2000, Dr. Kim concludes his business, and enters the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (Toronto), later in the same year, transfers to the newest naturopathic medical school in Canada, Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.

Dr. Kim completes his ND training at Boucher, which makes him the founding class of Boucher (2004). Dr. Kim’s primary clinical interests is the joint repair, and was mentored by Dr. Timothy Brown for 9 years, first as a student, then later as a colleague (2001-2009).

Inspired by Dr. Brown’s success in rapid diagnosis of orthopedic conditions free of invasive, expensive, and time-consuming radiological techniques, Dr. Kim invented his JDT technique (Joint Diagnostic Technique), a system of hands-on diagnostic technique to rapidly diagnose orthopedic problems specifically forligament and tendon dysfunctions; and later his JRT technique (Joint Realignment Technique), a system of treament fo gentle re-aligning of the injured ligaments and tendons for rapid healing.

Later, Dr. Kim creates his own clinic, Integrated Medical Solution (2008-Current) in Burnaby, BC.

Dr. Kim practices various joint manipulation techniques, and ligament/cartilage rebuilding therapies – that include prolotherapy to rebuild torn ligaments, neural therapy to reset ongoing pain signaling, and hyaluronic acid injection to joints that have injured cartilage.

He is currently working on his book, Ten Things You Need to Know About Arthritis, an easy-to-understand guide to help the public appreciate the mechanism of arthritis, and most importantly its prevention.

He believes that an individual has the capacity to prevent arthritis, and by so doing, Dr. Kim wishes to help the future generation transition – to a world without arthritis. The book is due to be pulished in the late 2010.

Dr. Kim is currently elected to the Boucher Board (2007-current), is a good standing member of College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC (the licensing body), BC Naturopathic Association, and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

Dr. Kim sees a gap in the current health care model. The current model categorizes the public in two groups – those who are sick and thos who are healthy. If you are deemed sick, you get the appropriate cookie-cutter protocols that chase the symptoms, instead of looking at the deeper cause.

In face, there is a large “crack” between the two camps of so-called sick people and healthy people. Many people fall into this crack between the two. These are the people with malnutrition, headaches, obesity, allergies, insomnia, metabolic syndrome, chronic low grade aches and pains, and toxicity problems – to name a few.

These individuals are suffering now and are likely to suffer even more in the future given their current momentum. Yet they do account for a large chunk of the population. And because they are not classified as “sick”, they are not guided by the conventional medical system. These individuals do require an empowering vision and proper guidance.

With current advancement in medical sciences, it is very possible to transition them from having an dysfunctional body to having a reliable body – that can withstand our “abusive” lifestyle in our 21st century.

Dr. Kim was drawn to Naturopathic Medicine because of (1) her philosophy of respect for the patients’ innate ability to heal as well as being compassionate for their suffering, (2) integrated approach to treating the patients with truly expansive scope of pratice – nutrition, counseling, manipulation, IV therapies, massage, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, minor surgeries, detoxification, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and now pharmaceutical uses to mention some, and (3) a practice without specialty-boundary where the doctor can treat a patient in all major areas.

Naturopathic Medicine provides a smorgasbord of tools that can be selected to look after an individual from an illness to dysfunction, and dysfunction to health. A good Doctor constantly learns and utilizes various healing tools to assist people in their healing journey.

Yours in health,

Dr. Albert M. Kim, ND
