Meet Dr. Kim

Dearest Patients,

The word “Naturopathic” indicates the posture of the doctors who work here. That the true healer is within each individual, and a doctor is an assistant to that that Great Healer within. Clinic comes from Greek, klin, meaning a bed. I interpret this in a poetic sense that Kingsway Naturopathic Clinic be a place not of survival, but of personal thriving peace.

Dr. Kim practices various joint manipulation techniques, and ligament/cartilage rebuilding therapies – that include prolotherapy to rebuild torn ligaments, neural therapy to reset ongoing pain signaling, and hyaluronic acid injection to joints that have injured cartilage.

Dr. Kim is currently elected to the Boucher Board (2007-current), is a good standing member of College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC (the licensing body), BC Naturopathic Association, and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

Dr. Kim sees a gap in the current health care model. The current model categorizes the public in two groups – those who are sick and those who are healthy. If you are deemed sick, you get the appropriate cookie-cutter protocols that chase the symptoms, instead of looking at the deeper cause.

In fact, there is a large “crack” between the two camps of so-called sick people and healthy people. Many people fall into this crack between the two. These are the people with malnutrition, headaches, obesity, allergies, insomnia, metabolic syndrome, chronic low grade aches and pains, and toxicity problems – to name a few.

These individuals are suffering now and are likely to suffer even more in the future given their current momentum. Yet they do account for a large chunk of the population. And because they are not classified as “sick”, they are not guided by the conventional medical system. These individuals do require an empowering vision and proper guidance.

With current advancement in medical sciences, it is very possible to transition them from having an dysfunctional body to having a reliable body–that can withstand our “abusive” lifestyle in our 21st century.

Dr. Kim was drawn to Naturopathic Medicine because of (1) her philosophy of respect for the patients’ innate ability to heal as well as being compassionate for their suffering, (2) integrated approach to treating the patients with truly expansive scope of pratice – nutrition, counseling, manipulation, IV therapies, massage, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, minor surgeries, detoxification, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and now pharmaceutical uses to mention some, and (3) a practice without specialty-boundary where the doctor can treat a patient in all major areas.

Naturopathic Medicine provides a smorgasbord of tools that can be selected to look after an individual from an illness to dysfunction, and dysfunction to health. A good Doctor constantly learns and utilizes various healing tools to assist people in their healing journey.
Yours in health,

Dr. Albert M. Kim, ND
